Normal cars are banned so it’s m ostly golf carts here, but it looks like they allow some very compact oddities to run around too .

Wikipedia claims that normal cars aren’t banned per se, but their number is constrained, leaving a waitlist of 14 years. ( Update : apparently 20 years !)

Perhaps, if you’re going to wait 20 years to bring a car over, you’re not going to bother with a large, boring vehicle; you’d do it with more style. Are the roads smaller than you’d see on the mainland?

Yes, the roads are tiny. If I lived there, it’s so small that I wouldn’t need anything reliable or fast, but I’d definitely go small and interesting. It rarely rains there and if you live in Avalon there’s practically nowhere you can’t easily walk to if it isn’t running... A golf cart (for Avalon) or a Jeep Wrangler type/size vehicle (for driving the dirt roads) seem like the optimal choices.

Sounds like they should have some old flatfender Jeeps modified to be fire engines for the occasional forest fire.

Cars are not common in Avalon, but the rest of the island has really cool vehicles .
